Vegan Apple Crisp | Living Well With Nic

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp weather, the changing colors of the trees, the leaves crunching under my feet, and most of all, the delicious baking! One of my staple fall desserts is Apple Crisp. You can’t go wrong with the cinnamon, apple, and pecan flavors. It’s sure to make your taste buds happy 🙂 Now, even though desserts are considered a treat that should be enjoyed on occasion, that doesn’t mean they can’t still contain healthy ingredients. I like to make a few ingredient swaps using healthier alternatives, such as oils, sugar, and flour.

Vegan Apple Crisp | Living Well With Nic

This recipe only takes 10 minutes to prepare and will leave your kitchen smelling positively heavenly. It’s a great recipe to bring to holiday gatherings! I think I’ve made this three times in the past month already.

It’s naturally sweetened with coconut sugar instead of white cane sugar. It’s also butter-free and uses coconut oil instead.

It’s also gluten-free when you use almond flour in place of the unbleached all-purpose flour.

The filling is absolute perfection. Apples are generously coated with coconut sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The arrowroot starch helps create a thick, caramel-like sauce.

The topping has plenty of texture from rolled oats, almond flour, and chopped pecans. Coconut sugar adds sweetness, while a little extra cinnamon adds a warming flavor.

I’m confident that this will quickly become your favorite fall dessert!
