If you love caramel apples, you’re going to love this smoothie bowl! It has that delicious classic caramel apple flavor but is packed full of fiber, protein, and healthy fats, making it a perfectly balanced breakfast.
Halloween is right around the corner and I don’t know about you, but I’m VERY excited!! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, right behind Christmas and Thanksgiving. I just love the coziness and the fact that it happens in fall, which is my favorite season! If I could freeze October, I would.
When I think of Halloween, I think of pumpkins, candy, all the traditional Halloween movies (Double Double Toil & Trouble, anyone?), and…caramel apples! I’m bringing you a healthy Caramel Apple Smoothie Bowl, that’s a fun, healthy spin on traditional caramel apples.
Smoothie bowls are my love language. They remind me of soft-serve ice cream, but healthy! I’ve been making a smoothie bowl every single morning for breakfast for years! I usually make my go-to Chocolate Protein Smoothie Bowl because I’m a creature of habit, but I felt inspired to switch it up with Fall in full swing.
Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
Apples
You can’t have caramel apple without the apple. Apples are an amazing detoxifier and contain both malic and tartaric acids that help remove impurities from the liver and gallbladder. If you have access to a local apple orchard, this is the perfect time of year to stock up on all the delicious, locally sourced apples!
Bananas
Frozen bananas make this smoothie bowl thick and creamy and also add a natural sweetness. Bananas are one of the most nutritional and healing fruits readily available today. They are 76% water and are packed with vitamins such as vitamins C and B6 and minerals such as potassium, copper, and manganese.
Dates
Medjool dates are nature’s caramels. I can’t go a day without having at least a couple of these gems! Dates are an ideal food for improved energy and brain function. They are a good source of vitamin A & B-complex and they are rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and potassium. Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.
Vegan Protein Powder
I love adding a scoop of vegan protein powder to all of my smoothie bowls, especially since I’m enjoying this in the morning after a workout. I also find that adding protein powder adds more flavor and makes the texture even smoother! I’ve been a loyal Sun Warrior fan for over 7 years. It’s not only the best-tasting vegan protein powder I’ve tried but has super clean ingredients as well.
Maca Powder
Maca has become a staple in my smoothie ingredients. Its benefits include many but one of the most notable is the ability to help increase your energy and stamina– with just one serving a day.
Spices
We’re using cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in this smoothie bowl to give it that warm, fall flavor.
Smoothie Bowl Toppings
A smoothie bowl just isn’t complete without toppings! They add some texture but also an extra boost of nutrients. Some of my favorites include:
Cacao nibs
Granola
Fresh Berries
Goji Berries
Mulberries
Hemp Seeds
We’re topping this Caramel Apple Smoothie Bowl with dried mulberries and a drizzle of date syrup – such a delicious combination!
