This Halloween Puppy Chow is an easy fun fall treat! It combines the classic flavors of puppy chow with some healthier candy chocolate gems and candy corn. Perfect for a Halloween party! This recipe is dairy-free and gluten-free.
Happy Halloweenn, friends! Let’s make some fall-themed, Halloween Puppy Chow because who doesn’t love puppy chow, right? Just when I thought this classic treat couldn’t get any better, then we tossed in some extra goodies and it’s a winner!
You only need a few simple ingredients for this Halloween Puppy Chow. If you’ve made my classic Puppy Chow, then you’ll know I made a few healthy swaps from the traditional recipe. We start with all-natural creamy peanut butter, dairy-free dark chocolate, and coconut oil (instead of butter to keep it dairy-free). Then, of course, we need rice Chex cereal and powdered sugar to complete it!
To add a fun, festive spin, we’re adding candy corn and chocolate gems. I’m a huge candy corn fan, but not a fan of the ingredients…but guess what?! Yum Earth has healthier candy corn made with organic ingredients, non-GMO, and gluten-free and without high fructose corn syrup or artificial dyes. And these taste SO GOOD! Just like traditional candy corn.
The chocolate gems are Dark Chocolate Crispy Gems from UnReal. If you haven’t heard of this brand, go do yourself a favor and give their candy a try! It’s the best. Their candy is made with 40% less sugar than regular candy and uses over 70% organic ingredients!
You can serve this at a Halloween party or put together little treat bags! Regardless, this puppy chow won’t last long – it’s just too good 🙂

Halloween Puppy Chow
Ingredients
- 10-11 cups Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips dairy-free
- 1 cup All-Natural Creamy Peanut Butter
- 2 ½ cups Powdered Sugar
- ¼ cup Coconut Oil
- 5 oz Bag of Unreal Chocolate Gems
- 1 cup Candy Corn I used Yum Earth brand
Instructions
- Measure Chex Cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
- In a small saucepan over the stove, melt together chocolate, peanut butter and coconut oil on low heat until fully melted, stirring constantly.
- Pour mixture over cereal, stirring gently until evenly coated. Pour half of the mixture into a large 2-gallon resealable storage bag or a Tupperware container (with a lid).
- Add half the powdered sugar. Seal bag and shake until well coated. Repeat with the other half of the cereal.
- Spread onto parchment paper-lined baking sheet to cool. Sprinkle the chocolate gems and candy corn on top.
- Scoop into mason jars and give as a fun holiday gift! Or store in an airtight container in refrigerator or freezer. Enjoy!
